We will give this a try. We really would like to get this to work since buying a new microfilm reader costs thousands and this library doesn't have that kinda money. We haven't been able to make this work. The computer we are trying is a new Windows 7 64bit. I had him hook up a older Windows 7 32bit and it let us install the driver and when we plugged in the microfilm reader it the operating system recognized new hardware and installed it. We can see the microfilm reader in device manager and in devices and printers.

But when we go into devices and printers then right click the microfilm reader and choose scan now we get a message that the WIA driver is not installed. We also opened Windows 7 fax & scan program and the microfilm reader is not listed in there. We are getting closer. But my question is where do we get a WIA driver? Thank you Madturtle. Sounds like a good idea! Silverfast is actually running, but with a couple bugs with SF 6.6 when using Win 8 64 bit.

Anyone that is using Win 8 will have noticed that there is quite a difference between the the Start screen 'apps' and desktop programs. The 'apps' seem to me to be quite inappropriate for the desktop PC environment and a program like SF 6.6 which was not developed for the Win 8 environment might not behave nicely it it. An observation: The Win 8 start screen in the Desktop PC environment is clumsy, inappropriate 'Kludge'! A huge mistake on MS's part, by not allowing desktop users the option of switching to a start menu.

I get where MS is coming from trying to have a unified interface for all devices. Personally I don't own a Windows phone or tablet and its not likely that I will in the near future. I have been trying to get a Konica Minolta MS 6000 MKII microfilm scanner working with Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit on a bog standard PC.

The scanner only has a SCSI interface. The PC previously had XP 32-bit installed when the scanner worked fine with a 15 year old Advansys ABP-915 PCI SCSI card, but since upgrading to 7, the SCSI card was no longer recognised (and no drivers available).

So a different SCSI card was purchased from eBay, which is known to work with Win7 x64 - the Adaptec 19160 PCI SCSI card. The card has its own BIOS config screen at system startup; the screen also shows as detecting the Minolta when it is powered on. The Adaptec provided SCSI card drivers installed successfully in Windows, and the SCSI controller shows up in Device Manager. The problem I am having is with the listed at the bottom of the linked page.

I suspect it doesn't work because the drivers are designed for USB only, but I'm not 100% about this. In the graphics program (Paperport) when the 'Scan now' button is clicked the message 'Device not found' appears, even though the Konica is listed as the selected TWAIN device. No scanner is listed in Control Panel >Scanners and camera. In Windows Device Manager, the Konica is listed under Other devices with a question mark next to it. When I click the Drivers tab it indicates no drivers are installed although the main tab indicates the device is working normally. Does this sound like a case for a custom inf file?

The result is that the scanner now shows up under a new node in Device Manager called Imaging devices, and has two driver files linked to it. Also, when I go to Control Panel >Scanners and Cameras there is now an icon for it. The Device Manager General tab reports the Location as Bus number 0, Target ID 3, LUN 0 and that 'This Device is working properly'. Hi Madturtle, Thanks for your replies. I did inspect the that came with the 3.16 driver. I couldn't see anything that could be usefully included in the modded INF file I used.

The readme file for the 3. Berkeley Puppet Interview Manual Transfer on this page. 16 driver makes only one mention of SCSI - to say to remove any pre-existing SCSI software. It sounds to me like SCSI support has been abandoned; the readme has a system requirements section which lists only USB. This morning I did try stopping and disabling the WIA service to see if the Twain driver would work after that, but no joy unfortunately.

Rifling through google groups shows that there are a lot of users out there who've experienced the status unavailable in the Scanners and Cameras dialogue - and this seems to stretch back at least a decade. Unfortunately none of the posts showed any common resolution (or resolution at all for that matter!). I think the only option is to roll back to Windows XP. What I did to get it working was download the.inf driver file provided earlier in this topic to suit windows 7. Then I went into device manager found the 1394 firewire controller and went to the driver update and then chose to 'Browse my computer for driver software' then 'let me pick a list of device drivers on my computer' When into the next screen choose the 'Legacy' driver and update it to this and your done. Turn on the scanner - it will now show up in the device manager where you can update it with the windows 7 driver and now it should work no problems. Mike brettania.

I took it to the local Apple dealers today, used a Firewire to firewire 800 cable from the scanner - then into the iMac via a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt connector. I downloaded Mac version Vuescan - and Hey Presto, the Dimage scanner burst into life and worked.normally - ie, how it should.
